2 more in custody in connection to Brundidge murder case
BRUNDIDGE, AL (WSFA) - Central Alabama CrimeStoppers confirms two more suspects in a Brundidge murder case have turned themselves in after seeing reports of a third suspect's arrest.
Trista Townsend was wanted for questioning and Jacory Townsend was wanted for murder in the May 30 homicide of 22-year-old Xavier Thomas. Both turned themselves in on Saturday without incident.
Thomas was shot outside of the Brundidge Retirement Center on Walding Circle. He was a passenger in a vehicle when someone opened fire on him.
The United States Marshal's Service previously notified CrimeStoppers that Demarcus Flowers, 25, was arrested without incident in Colorado. No other details were given on his arrest.

Kendarrius attended Dothan City Schools throughout his childhood and graduated from Dothan High School on Saturday, May 20, 2017. Kendarrius excelled in football and basketball. He recently accepted a football scholarship to Minnesota West Community College. Kendarrius was an outgoing person. He loved his family, friends, school mates, and community. Kendarrius’s life ended on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
Kendarrius was proceeded in death by His great-grandmothers: Hazel Martin and Minnie Mae Garlington; great grandfather: John Durry; grandfather: Kenneth Garlington; His uncle: Kenny Martin; His daddy: Christopher Grimsley.

Three young suspects in custody in the shooting death of a Dothan teen have now been identified.
Kendarrius Dewayne "K.D." Martin, a 19-year-old recent graduate of Dothan High School, was shot to death Tuesday night at Wiregrass Park and Recreation Center on Sixth Avenue.
Authorities on Thursday afternoon announced the arrest of a 15-year-old in connection with Martin's slaying. On Thursday night, lawmen said two more teens were taken into custody in Florida.
In custody are Andre D. Winn, 15, Ashanti T. Williams, 16 and Kentarious McNeil, 16, according to Florida's Bay County Sheriff's Office and the Dothan Police Department. Winn is the suspected triggerman. He and Williams are charged as fugitives from justice in Alabama, where they have outstanding murder warrants. Williams is charged as an adult.
During the investigation, sheriff's officials said, detectives obtained evidence to show that McNeil had given false information to investigators. He was charged in Florida with accessory after the fact to murder.
All three suspects were arrested about 2:30 p.m. Thursday when Panama City police officers spotted a vehicle driven by one of the suspects on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, said Bay County sheriff's Lt. Jeremy Mathis. The trio was taken into custody without incident.
Dothan police said the teens were arrested in the vehicle that was driven when Martin was killed. Winn and Williams are awaiting extradition to Alabama. "The arrest of the suspect will not fully ease the pain of the family, but we hope it will bring them one step closer,'' Dothan police said on Facebook.

Ray Lee Flowers was born to the late George Henry Flowers and Florine Sistrunk Flowers on July 16, 1943 in Enterprise, Alabama. He was the third child of eight siblings.
He met the love of his life, the late Jeanell Carlisle Flowers and married her on October 1. Four children were born to this union, Alicia Jeanell (Timothy) Brooks, Sarah Nell Flowers, Flora Denise (Greg) Scott and Willie Ray (Marci) Flowers.
Ray Lee was a well known and highly respected entrepreneur who operated many businesses and continued to love, support and nurture his family.
Cherishing his memories are; eleven grandchildren, LaKesha (Darnell Sr) Flowers-Leonard, Teresa Stafford, Jerry Brown Jr, Ashley Stafford, Niki Brown, Jamarcus Scott, Christopher Flowers, Chakelia Brown, Quentin (Jasmine) Flowers, Fantasia Flowers and Jaheem Flowers. An Enterprise man originally charged with attempted murder in the beating of a 73-year-old man now faces a capital murder charge after the victim died Saturday.
Enterprise Police Department officers responded to a domestic situation Thursday afternoon, according to a press release. Upon arriving, officers witnessed 22-year-old Jzurih Khalil Flowers allegedly beating the victim -- later identified as his grandfather Ray Flowers -- with a walking cane.
Jzurih Flowers was detained after a short scuffle. Ray Flowers was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but passed away Saturday morning.
EPD upgraded the charges to capital murder following Ray Flowers' passing.
On Friday, District Judge Chris Kaminski placed a $100,000 bond on Jzurih Flowers on the attempted murder charge. An additional $2,000 bond was assigned for a resisting arrest charge he also faces.
A new initial appearance hearing on the upgraded charge will occur at 10 a.m. Monday in front of Kaminski.

Coffee County District Judge Chris Kaminski denied bond for an Enterprise man charged with capital murder in the beating death of his great-grandfather.
On Thursday, May 18, Enterprise Police arrested 22-year-old Jzurih Khalil Flowers and charged him with attempted murder. According to an EPD release, officers arrived at a domestic situation and witnessed Flowers beating a 73-year-old man, later identified as Ray Lee Flowers, with a walking cane.
Jzurih Flowers appeared in court Friday on attempted murder charges, but after Ray Flowers died Saturday, the charges were upgraded to capital murder.
“We believe he was bludgeoned to death with one or more items. The defendant was making demands of money,” 12 th Judicial Circuit assistant district attorney Josh Wilson said. “This Saturday, Mr. Ray Flowers expired because of his injuries, and we believe it was due to the blunt force trauma.”
Because prosecutors believe the death occurred during a robbery, they have charged Jzurih Flowers with a capital crime. The defendant was also on probation for breaking/entering a motor vehicle, Wilson said, another mitigating factor in the request for no bond.
Kaminski temporarily appointed Carmen Howell and Sonny Reagan as attorneys for Flowers, pending a review of his indigent status. Flowers whimpered throughout the hearing and appeared to be in a non-verbal state – often answering Kaminski’s questions with a nodding head.
Flowers also convulsed several times during the hearing.
“It is clear to me that the defendant is reflecting a severe mental disorder,” Reagan said. “I’m not entirely sure he’s aware of where he is. We plan to file for a mental evaluation.”
After the hearing, Wilson said Flowers’ behavior is a recent development.
“Based on what I’ve heard from the investigators, some of the behavior was not present before the charge was upgraded to capital murder,” he said. “We believe when he made his initial statements, he was more coherent.”
Kaminski also set a preliminary hearing for Flowers on June 2 at 1:30 p.m. in Enterprise.

ENTERPRISE, AL (WSFA) - An elderly man, who police say was intentionally beaten on Thursday in Enterprise, has died.
According to court documents, Jzurih Khalil Flowers is facing capital murder charges following the death of 73-year-old Ray Lee Flowers.
Documents indicate Jzurih Khalil Flowers intentionally caused the death of Ray Lee Flowers by allegedly striking him repeatedly with a metal walking cane during the course of committing a robbery.
The incident happened on Thursday in the 100 block of Grimsley Street.
Jzurih Khalil Flowers was initially charged with attempted murder but those charges were upgraded following Ray Lee Flowers’ death.
The court has ordered a mental evaluation for Jzurih Khalil Flowers. Documents indicate he demonstrated "an extreme erratic behavior and general lack of understanding of the charges against him or the seriousness of the same" during his initial court appearance.
Documents also state Jzurih Khalil Flowers is on suicide watch.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 2 at 1:30 p.m.

No arrests in May 12th Level Plains murder
LEVEL PLAINS, Ala. (WTVY) — No arrests have been made in a Level Plains murder that happened a week and a half ago.
55-year-old Lisa Griffin was found critically wounded from gunfire inside a rural mobile home on Dale County Road 24 on May 12th.
The Enterprise woman was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.
Although no arrests have been made Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson says his department is making progress.

Enterprise woman fatally wounded in shooting in Level Plains
An Enterprise woman was fatally wounded in Level Plains Friday night after gunshots were fired into a residence.
Enterprise Rescue transported Lisa Griffin, 55, to Flowers Hospital in Dothan where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Dale County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating the person or persons responsible.
Deputies responded to the 1700 block of County Road 24 at approximately 9:15 p.m. Friday in reference to a report of shots being fired in the area.
While deputies were en route, Ozark-Dale County E911 upgraded the call and advised deputies that one subject was suffering from a gunshot wound and was in critical condition.
When deputies arrived they located a woman with a gunshot wound to her upper body inside the residence.
Investigators processing the evidence said it appears that multiple rounds were fired into the residence.

Elba man in court for weekend fatal shooting in Enterprise
Today, Enterprise police released additional details in regard to a weekend homicide which claimed the life of 39-year-old Marcus Virghes of Elba.
This morning, Ted Caldwell also of Elba had his first court appearance on an open count of murder. The 31-year-old's bond was set at 100-thousand dollars. Caldwell told the judge he planned to hire his own attorney.
Enterprise police say they responded to a call of a shooting at a home in the 14-hundred block of Sheffield Road early Sunday morning. They found the victim lying inside the garage, he had been shot with a handgun in the head and chest. Both men reportedly knew each other at what has been describe as a "social gathering", but police have not elaborated what prompted the shooting. Authorities say its been difficult to get information from those in attendance.

An Elba man charged with murder was bound over to the Coffee County Grand Jury after a preliminary hearing before District Judge Chris Kaminski Monday, July 17.
After an hour of testimony by an Enterprise Police Criminal Investigation Division detective, Kaminski ruled that there was enough evidence to proceed with the murder charge against Ted Carstiel Caldwell, 31, who has remained free on $100,000 bond following his April 9 arrest.
Caldwell is charged in connection with the shooting death of Marcus Eugene Virghes, 39, also of Elba, that occurred at 1451 Shellfield Road in Enterprise in the early morning hours of April 9.
Enterprise Police Department Detective Will Ezell told the court Monday that he was called to the rental property after midnight in response to reports of a shooting that occurred during a party and cookout at the residence.
Ezell said that Virghes was lying dead near the entry of the garage with two gunshots to the chest. An autopsy report determined that a head wound Virghes had was later determined, through an autopsy, to have been caused by his fall to the garage floor. The cause of death was reported to be “homicide by gunshot wounds to the chest,” Ezell said.
Witnesses told police that Virghes and Caldwell’s brother, both of whom had been drinking alcohol, had been arguing when Caldwell intervened.
One witness told Ezell that Virghes pulled up his shirt to show that he had a gun in his waistband. At that point, the witness told police, she heard a round “get racked” into a gun and saw Caldwell shoot twice from his gun.
Another witness told police that there had been a previous altercation between Caldwell and Virghes in December, during which Caldwell allegedly shot Virghes in one of his hands.
Ezell said that Caldwell was not at the Shellfield Road residence when police arrived but that he did come to the EPD to be interviewed later.
Caldwell told police that Virghes had been “staring at him kind of funny,” prior to the shooting and had pulled up his shirt to show Caldwell his weapon.
Caldwell told police he shot Virghes twice after Virghes pulled his gun out, Ezell said. Caldwell told police that the person who had driven him to the party then drove him from the party. Ezell told the court that Caldwell declined to tell police where he went after the Shellfield Road party but that data analysis of Caldwell’s cellphone showed his location to be “within yards” of the Daleville Avenue Lounge.
Caldwell told police he threw the gun into the river near Elba, Ezell said, adding despite the efforts of law enforcement dive teams, the gun has not been recovered.
Caldwell’s attorney, Joe Cassady Jr., told Ezell that Virghes had a prior felony conviction and suggested that his client had pulled his weapon out of caution and self-defense during the altercation. “My question is pretty simple,” Cassady told Ezell. “If you knew that someone had been convicted wouldn’t you pull out your weapon?”
Ezell did not answer Cassady’s rhetorical question but told Cassady that although the police investigation continues, “I am satisfied that it was Ted Caldwell who committed the murder.”

DALE CO., AL, (WSFA) - Family members are desperate for answers and crying out for help in the search for a missing Dale County woman.
Virginia Sellers, who also goes by Ginger, was last seen on Nov. 12.
"I just want her to please call if she can hear this or sees it in anyway," said Seller's sister Rebecca Wallace.
Wallace spoke with her sister the afternoon of Nov. 12 and believes she went missing that night. Wallace said Sellers was planning to leave her boyfriend, who she was living with, to escape domestic abuse. Sellers reportedly promised her sister she would keep in touch.
Wallace says it is unlike her sister to disappear and not call her.
"It's not like her, even a day or two, and especially with her knowing I was coming to move her. She was waiting on that, she done [sic] took a lot of her belongings out of storage that was there. They were laying there, they were just piled up outside," Wallace said.
Sellers reportedly walked to H&W Convenience store to charge her phone the day she was last seen. Police say she was last seen walking on Highway 105. She was wearing a blue walking outfit and carrying a black purse.
Sellers is a mother of two and grandmother of three. She also suffers from physical and mental illnesses.
"We have a lot of different things we're looking into right now. I'm limited to what I can say and limited to what I will say, but we are in the process of trying to find out more information," said Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson.

A woman found deceased near the Choctawhatchee River in Echo in March has been positively identified.
Dale County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Mason Bynum confirmed Friday the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences has identified the woman as Virginia “Ginger” Sellers of Skipperville.
Sellers had been reported missing near the end of 2016. She was last seen walking toward the H&W Convenience Story along State Highway 105 in Skipperville Nov. 12, 2016. She was wearing a blue walking outfit
The case continues to be investigated as a homicide based on evidence collected at the scene when the body was found. Bynum declined to reveal any other details Friday, citing the ongoing investigation.
An E911 call alerted authorities to the body on March 18. The body was found on East County Road 36 and transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for positive identification.

DALE COUNTY, Ala. (WTVY)-- The Dale County Sheriff’s Office says a body found near East County Road 36 March 18th has been identified as the body of Virginia Sellers of Skipperville.
The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences identified the body using DNA comparison.
Virginia “Ginger” Sellers Skipperville was last seen November 12th walking along Highway 105 in Skipperville and was reported missing a few weeks later.
This is still an ongoing homicide investigation. The cause of death has not been released.
The Dale County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Dothan and Ozark Police Departments and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab in Quantico, VA.

Loved by many, Tyler was a loving son, father, fiance’, and friend. Everyone that met Tyler is grieving because he left an impression that was as big as his smile. Grieving the most is his loving mother, Lisa Bolling, his fiance’, Brooke Jeffcoat, a brother, Lee Bolling and his “brothers by love” Robbie Chappell and Dustin Taylor. The light of his life was his eight year old daughter, Kayleigh Alexis, to whom he excelled at being a great dad. After his love of family and friends, Tyler’s favorite pastime was fishing and hunting. He fished in numerous bass tournaments and was a leader in the Opp Bass Club. Tyler was a volunteer fireman at the River Falls Fire Department. He was also employed by Boan Contracting Company, since graduating Andalusia High school in 2007. As a senior equipment operator at Boan, he worked under his mentor, Mike Park. There were two reasons he loved going to work. The first was his job. He often stated that going to work was, “like choosing which favorite toy to play with each day.” The second reason was his crew. Elba Police have released the victim's name in a fatal Coffee County shooting.
27-year-old Nicholas Tyler Bolling of Andalusia was shot late Monday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 84 and County Road 501. He was pronounced dead at Medical Center Enterprise.
No one has been charged in connection with the incident.
Elba Police Chief Fred Hanchey says the investigation is continuing.

54-year-old facing murder charges after Dothan shooting
A 19-year-old could face the death penalty after being charged with the murder of his two-month-old baby son in southeastern Alabama.
Jaylin Jamal Toles was arrested in Ozark after calling to report an unresponsive child at around 1.40am Saturday.
Chief Marlos Walker said a preliminary examination by Dale County Sheriff's deputies suggested blunt force trauma as the cause for the child's death.

A photograph on Toles' Facebook account shows what appears to be a newborn child at Christmas, named 'Baby J'. The baby is believed to be Toles's son.
The baby, who is not yet being formally identified, was found at the mother's home on the 100 block of Claybank Avenue.
No other adults or children were inside the house when police arrived, Walker said.
The infant was rushed Dale Medical Center around a mile and a half away, where he was pronounced dead.
His body will be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for further investigation. The results of an autopsy are expected within the next 48 hours.
Because Alabama allows capital murder charges on victims under 14 years old, Toles could face the death penalty if convicted, WTVY reported.
'This is a horrible tragedy and our prayers go out to the family of our two-month-old victim,' Walker said.
Toles has been jailed without bond. He is expected to go to court some time this week.

Dothan, AL (WTVY)- A woman whose body was discovered in a bathtub late Sunday was apparently murdered.
Multiple investigative sources confirm the woman appeared strangled to death.
Houston County Deputy Coroner Ben Earnest identified the victim as Alicia Kelly, 30, of Dothan.
Authorities say that Kelly’s body was believed to have been discovered Sunday about 5 pm. after paramedics were dispatched to a medical call at a Johnson Homes apartment.
It is not immediately known if Kelly resided in that apartment.
Police investigators say several people were questioned overnight.
However, it is not immediately known if anyone has been charged in Kelly’s death.
Police are expected to release additional information later Monday.

Investigators have arrested and charged 21 year old Cedricka Jacole Thornton, of Mona Drive, with Murder. Bond has been set at $60,000.
Dothan Police are investigating a murder from early Thursday morning.

The victim is 20 year old Devontay Vashon Davis of Dothan. It took place around 1:30 a.m. at 317 Moana Drive, apartment 2. That’s off Laurie road in the Denton Apartment complex. The victim’s truck is still in the driveway. Davis lived next door to Michelle Jackson.
"We heard that, we call him ‘meatloaf,’ that he got stabbed and killed,” said neighbor Michelle Jackson. “And I’m like I don't know I’m just getting off of work so I’ve been doing a little investigation myself trying to find out because he's like a son to me. He's my older son's best friend and he's like a son to me"
According to coroner Robert Bird, Davis’s was taken to SAMC just after 2 a.m. His body is being sent to Montgomery for a full examination. Police are investigating a person of interest.

EPD makes arrest in woman's disappearance
Enterprise Police Chief T.D. Jones has announced the arrest of a suspect in the disappearance of Ayanna Smith, 26.
"We feel certain that Ms. (Ayanna) Smith is a victim of foul play," Jones said.
Malcom Theotis Hunter, 29, was arrested and charged with murder on Thursday, Feb. 2, at 3:30 p.m. A body has not been found at this time.
A person can be charged with murder even with the absence of a body “if a jury can reasonably infer, based on the evidence, actual or circumstantial, that it has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the missing person is in fact dead,” said Twelfth Judicial Circuit District Attorney Tom Anderson. “There have been a litany of such cases over the years that cover many different states, including Kentucky and Tennessee.
“In this case, we have multiple statements that point to this,” Anderson said. “And it is expected to be bolstered by the forensic evidence submitted for analysis.”
Hunter was previously arrested on Jan. 26 and charged with failing to register as an ex-felon, according to Jones. His second arrest occurred while he was in municipal court for this charge.
He was being held in the Coffee County Jail before being charged with murder.
Jones said Hunter and Smith were in a relationship, but were not legally married, despite posts on social media.
Smith had a five-month-old child and a seven-year-old child. The children are currently with Smith's mother.
"We're asking anyone with information on this case to please come forward with any information, no matter how minute they think their information may be," Jones said. "We're still actively trying to find Ms. Smith.
"We need some more information because we're trying to do everything we can to bring some closure to the family and they can find their loved one."
Smith was last seen on W. Brunson Street on Jan. 21 at 10 p.m., according to an EPD press release. She was last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue pants and black shoes.
According to Sgt. Jeff Spence, Smith's mother contacted the police on Jan. 23 about her daughter. He said the case began with the unauthorized use of Smith's vehicle.
"I want to say to the family that our hearts and prayers are with the family of Ayanna Smith," Jones said. "No family should have to suffer through the agony and heartbreak of not knowing where their loved ones are located."
Jones credited the following agencies for their assistance in the investigation: the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office and Posse, the Geneva County Sheriff’s Office, the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, the Dothan Police Department, the Dothan Crime Lab, the Level Plains Police Department, the Daleville Police Department, Wiregrass Aviation Support, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the United States Marshalls, the Coffee County District Attorney’s Office, the Southwest Panhandle Search and Rescue and the Sarasota, Fla., K9 Search and Rescue.

Cornell Johnson, Sr. entered this world May 10, 1968 to W.C. Johnson and Marie Davis. Cornell graduated from Northview High School in 1987. He was a member of Stringer Street A.M.E. Church in his early age where he served faithful through adulthood. Later in life, with his family, they united at Faith Victory Christian Center. He served in the United States Army as a cook and later decided to keep it as a hobby. Cornell loved spending time playing chess with his partner Lil Grimsley, Terry Holt, and Roderick Jones and shooting the breeze. Cornell's fa-vorite saying was "Hold Your Head Back," you know what I mean. He was excited about his place in the Kingdom of God.
Cornell is preceded in death by his father, W.C. Johnson, grandmothers, Ellen Arnette and Mary Lizzie Johnson; grandson, Mason Johnson, and his grandfather, O.G. Barber.

54-year-old facing murder charges after Dothan shooting
DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - A 54-year-old is behind bars after a shooting and firearm assault that left one person dead, according to the Dothan Police Department. Dothan police say Jeffrey Lloyd Culpepper is charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted assault first-degree.
On Monday night, officers were called to Sandher's Grocery in the 1100 block of Third Avenue after receiving a call of shots fired. When they arrived on the scene several people who were believed to be involved in the incident were detained. Officers then discovered the body of 48-year-old Cornell Lamont Johnson in the parking lot.
Investigators and crime scene technicians began working to piece together the events that led up to Johnson’s death. After a thorough investigation, it was revealed that everyone involved in the incident had been part of an ongoing dispute stretching over several days. Police believe loaned property was the subject of the argument.
"I heard two gunshots and then I heard pop pop pop pop," said Valerie Minatee, who was a couple homes away. She came outside to see what was happening. "I said uh oh its right around by the house, so I just, I was still on my porch siting down and then here come all the police...I said "something done happened, "Minatee recalled.
According to investigators, both men arrived at Sandher’s Grocery where a verbal altercation ensued. After the altercation, Culpepper got out of his vehicle and shot Johnson, according to investigators.
Culpepper then got back into his vehicle, which was struck by another person who was present during the verbal altercation. Shots were also exchanged following that collision.
"Once the initial shot had occurred, the suspect was driving his car around the parking lot when one of the family members of the victim drove his car into the suspect's car in an attempt to I guess take him out," said Dothan Chief of Police Steven Parrish. "The suspect fired four rounds into that car and nearly missed the driver of that vehicle."
Security cameras were rolling, which helped investigators identify and arrest Culpepper, but the cameras did not capture the shooting or collision.
Culpepper was taken into custody and is being held without bond.
Police do not anticipate any other people will be charged at this time.

Jade Jones, age 12, of Florala passed away Thursday evening December 22, 2016. He was born in Andalusia March 23, 2004 to Jeremy Jones and Crystal Hardison Jones. Jade was in the 7th grade at Florala High School. He enjoyed playing football and was often found in the woods and lakes of our area hunting and fishing. Jade was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and was recently baptized by his dad, Jeremy. He had a wonderful sense of humor and never met a stranger. Jade loved spending time with his family especially his brother, Jordan. His sweet smile and loving ways will be truly missed.
He is survived by parents, Jeremy and Crystal Jones of Florala, brother, Jordan Jones and sister, Jailee Jones both of Florala, paternal grandparents, Billy and Lisa Jones of Florala, maternal grandparents, Buddy Hardison and wife Frankie of Florala and Belinda Smith and husband Kevin of Raleigh, NC, uncle Josh Jones. 12-year-old Jade "Bubba" Jones is fatally shot at his friend's Geneva County home.
GENEVA Co. (WTVY) In a morning news conference, Geneva County Sheriff Tony Helms said the un-named 14-year-old's reckless behavior with a shotgun in his foster family's house led to the felony charge.
Just after 6:30 last night, sheriff helms says 12-year-old Jade Jones, known to family and friends as Bubba, died instantly after being shot in the side of his body with a shotgun. The victim is from the Florala area. His 14-year-old friend who had been living in the home is charged with manslaughter. They were home alone when one of the children apparently found the weapon in a closet. We spoke with several neighbors who wished not to appear on camera, but say the 14-year-old suspect is friendly and attends public school in Hartford.
Authorities have not released the results of the autopsy.

A man was previously charged with capital murder in Amanda Anderson’s (also known as Amanda Bond) death.
Bond’s body was located near Alabama Highway 109 near the Florida state line, according to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.
Court records indicate that Anderson, 36, was struck with a large piece of wood. Joshua Tew, 29, was charged with her death following a standoff with officers October 31 even though the body had not been located.

HOUSTON COUNTY: 6:30 PM. The Houston County Sheriff Department has recovered the body of 36 year old Amanda Bond.
The discovery was late this afternoon on Highway 109 just inside the Alabama line.
Since October 31 some 4,200 or more manhours have been logged in the search for Amanda Bond. Basic law enforcement work "boots on the ground" investigative work resulted in the discovery of the body.
A Sheriff Investigator who was searching saw a path and checked it out. That is when the discovery was made.
Sheriff Donald Valenza and Criminal Investigators are processing the crime scene.
PLEASE STAY AWAY.
The Sheriff is expected to hold a press conference in the morning.

The people of Houston County need to know a couple of things:
- When Amanda's body was found, which does have to be confirmed through forensics, Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza "personally" went to Amanda's families home to notify them. Valenza did not send anyone, but he himself went.
- Every member of the Houston County Sheriff Department gave more than 100% effort in working to locate Amanda. From Patrol, Criminal Investigation, Vice, Communication, volunteers from many rescue, fire and individuals worked hard and long to locate Amanda.
- Sheriff Donald Valenza himself, since October 31, has been walking woods, ditches, everywhere with others looking. He did not just "send" people but he "participated" in the searches.
- Other agencies with specialities in training and equipment assisted in the search.
- Many people prayed specifically for the Sheriff Department. After the weekend searches, hope was growing thin. But the prayers worked.
- On October 31 and through that night, based on the information available to the Sheriff Department at that time, the Houston County Sheriff Department utilized every resource available to attempt to locate Amanda if she was still alive. Yes, she was found elsewhere, but based on all information available at the time, the Sheriff Department did all that could be done.
- The two most senior criminal investigators with the Sheriff Department, Sheriff Valenza and retired Alabama Bureau of Investigation Captain Barry Tucker questioned the suspect Joshua Tew before arresting him for Capital Murder. He would not provide information to assist. And if these two could not get it out of him, he was difficult.
None of the above information have I been asked to share. But the people need to know ALLOF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSTON COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT and other agencies have given this case all of their focus and personal attention.
Now comes all of the cataloging of details in order to prosecute and obtain a conviction.
